COMING SOON
Coming soon...a new piece for wind ensemble inspired by the rich world of film music...

Dually Noted (2023)
In this thrilling piece for 3 trumpets and 4 horns, the relationship between dually opposed ideas is explored, but this exploration in duality often exposes how two ideas may be more similar than at first glance.
When starting this piece, I knew I wanted it to feature a strong top-heavy brass section that could fill up a hall. My main musical goal of this piece to explore many different brass timbres and how they could be combined into one enthralling piece that leaves you both intrigued and breathless.

The Mind's Eye (2023)
A string quartet all about what the mind sees, doesn't see, and what it thinks it sees...
Musically, my aim with this piece was to combine pitch class sets with a short, salient motif that would persist throughout the entire piece with many mutations and developments. The end result is rather eerie and haunting at times, aggressively violent at other times, and very calmly introspective at others, making for an intense roller coaster of feelings and moods.

Music For a Heartfelt Trailer (2022)
In this orchestral exercise, I develop a family theme over the course of a 2:30 fictional trailer. Although this was originally written for a music theory final project, I liked the content enough to flesh the piece out into its own standalone identity. Although the piece contains fairly standard triadic harmonies and melodies, I think it has a whole lot of heart as well!

Middle Ground (2022)
This woodwind quintet, through different movements inspired by a baroque dance suite, describes different voices that first divulge from seemingly agreement to bitter disagreement. What does it take to bring these voices back to a middle ground?
This piece was sort of an experiment in coming up only a narrative idea and just letting that idea drive the musical content. There aren't any pre-planned complex harmonic relationships or intervallic structures, just a guiding narrative (and single motivic idea) that permeates this piece.

Mind Over Matter (2022)
The human brain is truly a mesmerizing thing with all of its intricate neural pathways that allow us to sense, move, and think. This piece for brass and piano explores a reflection on the beauty of the human mind.
This piece was my first dive into the world of pitch class sets, though it also mixes some elements of impressionism, temporal modulation, and other rhythmic devices.

Westminster, London (2022)
This piece is my reflection on a painting by John Atkinson Grimshaw called "Reflections on the Thames, Westminster." This modified orchestra with percussion, keyboards, harps, and strings is inspired by Jerry Goldsmith's sound and orchestra for the film "Chinatown." Melancholic and beautiful, perhaps this score deserves to be expanded on in the future...

Music for an Action-Fantasy Trailer (2021)
In this orchestral exercise, I develop an action-fantasy theme over the course of a 1:00 fictional trailer.

Brass 'n' Gas (2020)
My first adventure into chamber-music writing uses a brass quintet to explore several different rhythmic devices and difficult double-tonguing exercises.

'Till the End of Time (2019)
This piece for full orchestra is a short nostalgic reflection on my life through school and the friends that helped me through it.
Being another one of my earliest orchestral pieces, it could be worth a revisit in the future, but I think the content holds up fairly well. Just might be another one that needs a formatting and engraving update.

South By Southwest (2019)
This piece for full orchestra is what I would consider a thrilling mystery noir story inspired heavily by classic noir elements and jazz. Being my 2nd serious orchestral work, this piece is probably in need of a serious formatting and engraving update, but the musical content is still quite fun all these years later!

Shades of a Hero (2018)
With my first serious composition ever, I decided to jump into the deep end with this orchestral work that paints a picture of a classic American superhero.
At some point, I think it would be quite a terrific endeavor to completely revisit this piece and form it into something entirely new (not just a formatting update) with my more matured composition style. Perhaps that might happen sooner rather than later...
